Visit, and a rematch...

My parents came to visit last weekend to keep me company for a few days! We worked on a few small projects around the house. The jasmine has gotten totally out of hand, so we hacked it back a bit and cleaned the gutters after a soggy North Coast winter.
It wasn't all work though, we enjoyed some homebrews on the new deck furniture (I also enjoyed some home-cooked meals!).
On Sunday was the second biannual Physics-Chemistry kickball showdown. Those of you who keep a keen eye on the blog will remember that in December, Chemistry spanked Physics 16-6. Well this time we had a much better showing, however physics still lost in the bottom of the ninth with two outs! Final score: 15-14. It must be noted that Physics only had 6 players to Chemistry's 8. So if your normalize the score, Physics won on a per-player basis.
Meanwhile, the California spring continues,
and I'm looking forward to Catherine's return in 10 days!

62 Degrees North

Have been sailing for 2 weeks now and enjoying every roll and pitch (or at least most). We have not seen land or any other ships for the last 11 days, although there are rumors of ship sightings in the middle of the night.
I stopped using the patch on Sunday which was a mild day. Yesterday it started to get rough again so I took some pills which made me slightly drowsy. It would have been a great night of sleep if the constant jerking of the ship didn't threaten to throw us out of our bunks.

We are between Iceland and just north of the British Isles, making our way to Norway. The trek seems to be taking forever and the winds have not been favorable for sampling aerosols. This ocean air is just too clean!
Overall, having fun and working hard, being safe and trying to stay dry. :)
